My mother had a pretty traumatic birth with me, she was young and I was to be adopted.
She was taken out of her home town to live with strangers until I was born, she was then sent back home to get on with her life and not talk about what had just happened to her and me.
I was born via a painful delivery using forceps and taken away from my mother, she was bound so she wouldn’t lactate, she was able to visit me a couple of times and then one day I was gone.
When I became pregnant, I wanted to do everything I could to have a more positive, empowering birth. i wanted my babies to have that strong Mother/Father/Baby connection from the very beginning so they felt safe, secure, loved and wanted. I missed out on that connection and I longed for and searched for that feeling of lost love and connection.
The Marie Mongan HypnoBirthing techniques reduced any fear or tension I held around labour and birth, I looked forward to my birthing day with joy and excitement.
I practiced the breathing techniques as I went about my day, I listened to the rainbow relaxation and daily affirmations tracks at least twice a day to help set a positive mindset, I connected with my baby and my husband so much more through this process, we all had a role to play in this, it wasn’t just me giving birth, it was a loving team effort.
Our daughter was born at home (unplanned), my husband started to deliver her until help arrived, (the midwife arrived just after the birth), but it was the most empowering, calm and lovely experience. I was able to follow the lead of my body and my baby with no interruptions or unnecessary interventions.
Because of this experience we planned to have our son at home, which was another positive calm and loving birth.
My wish is for parents and babies to have gentler, calmer, comfortable, empowering birth experiences which is why I became a HypnoBirthing childbirth educator to share in these wonderful techniques.
